Package Boiler Transportation - MS to Jamaica

A major manufacturer of package boilers was awarded the supply of a very large package unit to be delivered to an industrial facility in Jamaica on an aggressive schedule. The manufacturer and owner both intended to utilize a field assembled boiler. However, the contract erector suggested that the boiler might be possible to ship as a shop assembled unit and requested Barnhart perform a study to prove the feasibility.

After review the transport of the complete boiler was awarded to Barnhart and would be the largest unit ever built by the Mississippi manufacturer. The boiler was moved through the state to a local port on a three file platform transporter and rolled on to the barge along with all required equipment for the Jamaican haul and erection operations. The boiler, transporter and support equipment were secured for ocean travel and delivered to Jamaica via ocean going barge.

In Jamaica, the boiler was rolled off on "Rocky Point" and hauled about 20 miles to the plant where it was set using hydraulic gantry and custom design rigging gear. The boiler incorporated Barnhart designed removable attachments which aided in sea-fastening and erection at site.
