Emergency Rotor RemovalBarnhart was called on to remove a failed rotor from one of the plant’s main generators and transport it back to the manufacturer. Because of the tight quarters careful planning was required. The project was executed using hydraulic jacks, rollers as well as one of Barnhart’s LTM 1400’s (500 ton hydraulic crane) to overcome minimal working room. The rotor was carefully guided out of the generator, through the building wall, under ductwork, along the side of the generator and ultimately out through the roof of the second floor. Barnhart responded quickly to the emergency and completed the job safely.
