BARNHART ACQUIRES STEEL CITY

Even in an economy that is still far from robust, Barnhart is always looking for ways to expand our services and equipment inventory to better serve our customers. So pardon our enthusiasm and this moment of self-promotion as we announce our recent acquisition of Steel City Crane in the following press release.   

Barnhart Crane and Rigging has reached a definitive agreement with Steel City Crane of Birmingham, Alabama to purchase the assets of the company. For over 50 years, Steel City Crane has offered operated crane service to industrial clients in the southeastern United States from offices in Alabama and Mississippi.

“Steel City is a great company with a strong history,” said Alan Barnhart, CEO of Barnhart. “This move is a very positive change for everyone involved.  For years Steel City has built a good reputation by providing lifting solutions to heavy industrial customers such as process plants, refineries, and power plants – especially during outages and shutdowns.  This acquisition will allow Barnhart to continue to serve those same customers while offering a broader range of services that should help customers lower a project’s overall costs. We think our industrial customers in the Gulf Coast region will be very pleased with this expansion of services.”

Steel City’s crane inventory will be maintained and managed by Barnhart’s branch in Mobile, Alabama.  Headquartered in Memphis, TN, Barnhart Crane and Rigging is one of the nation’s largest heavy lift and heavy transportation companies.  Currently, our company has over 25 branches nationwide, and one of the nation’s largest equipment inventories.
